Adults from Families with Addiction or in Active Recovery
Addiction impacts the whole family. There is no way around it. Whether you are the one who is in active recovery or you are someone who is impacted by a family member with addictive behaviors, it can feel overwhelming and out of control.
For those in active recovery:
Addictions happen for a reason, not in a vacuum, which means there is usually a great deal to unpack once we shift from active addiction to maintaining our recovery. It is an honor for me to help those in recovery find new ways to cope that are more conducive to their lives and relationships and also to help them understand what function their addiction was serving for them. Such powerful healing can occur when we start to shift from shame and isolation to understanding and acceptance.
For those who have or have had family members with addiction struggles:
I have a lot of experience with and passion for working with those who come from families with addiction struggles; whether that is a parent, a sibling or another family member. Having any family member who struggles with addiction can bring up a lot of emotions; such as anger, fear, guilt, shame, and a general sense of feeling utterly out of control. Specifically, being an adult child of an alcoholic comes with its own particular set of emotional and relational impacts that deserve specialized attention. I’m here to guide you through this process and help start you on your journey of healing.
